A devoted scholar, Shri Anup Chand bor on Sept. 10,1922, is a silent and active worker of Jaipur. His father Shri Gomti Lai Bhaonsa was a well-known cloth merchant and socialite. Educated at Digamber Jain Sanskrit College, Jaipur Shri Anup Chand was one of the main disciples of late Pt. Chanisukh Das, the revolutionary ideas of whom had amply inspired him to serve the society.
He passed Nyayatirtha examination in 1st Division in 1947 and Sahityaratna in 1948. Many of his articles and poems have been published in various magazines. For the last 20 years he is engaged in literary service and alongwith his close associate Dr. K.C.
Kasliwal has performed the difficult task of cataloguing the Digamber Jain Shastra Bhandars of Rajasthan and preparation of photo-stat copies. He is one of the editors of Grantha Catalogues—Vol. 3, 4 and 5— published by Literary Research Deptt. of Shri Mahavirji Tirthakshetra Committee.
Poetic translation of several poems of Gitanjali of Rabindra Nath Tagore, Rohini Vrat Puja, Chandan Shashthi Vrat Puja, Kanjika Dwadashi Vrat Puja (Hindi translation) and Acharya Sur Sagar Puja are his published works. His Bharat Bahubali Samvad is yet unpublished.
He is Treasurer of Rajasthan Jain Sahitya Parishad, Secretary for over eight years of Shri Digamber Jain Aushadhalaya—the oldest dispensary of Jaipur and is office bearer and Executive Committee member of several other bcdies.
