Renowned learned Jain scholar Pt. Sumer Chandra Diwakar was born at Siwni in Madhya Pradesh cn 5th October, 1905. His father late Singhai Kunwar Sain was Ex-President of Parwar Sabha. Shri Diwakar got his education at Jain Gurukul Morena, Syadwad Mahavidyalaya Varanasi and Nagpur University, from where he passed Shastri, Nyayatirtha and LL.B. examinations respectively.
A dedicated and prolific writer he has created vast Jain literature on various subjects and has to his credit about 50 publications in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannad and English languages which have been published by prominent Jain publication centres and institutions of the country.
He has been an active participant in the national freedom movement and was Secretary of Siwni District Congress Committee. A celebate through out his life, he is admirably simple and devoted to social service, propagation of Jain religion and creation of Jain literature. On many occasions he has been honoured in different parts of the country for his learning and selfless services.
As an Indian delegate, he attended the All Religions Conference held at Shimju in Japan in 1956 besides attending World Religions Conferences held in India at Ujjain, Indore, New Delhi and Gauhati. His paper was read at the International Theosophical Society and Orientalist Congress held in U.S.A. in 1966-67.
