Shri A Jit Pershad Jain
Prominent businessman and social figure Shri Ajit Pershad Jain Thekedar possesses accommodating and amiable nature. He was born at Delhi on July 14, 1922. His father late Shri Mahabir Pershad Jain Thekedar was an outstanding social figure and respectable person of Jain Society. He was a leading contractor and businessman.
Shri A.P. Jain entered into family business of Government contracts in 1939. He is partner in capital’s renowned sanitary goods and hardware firm M/s. Mahabir Pershad & Sons and in M/s. Delhi Cement Stockists Co.
He has also established independently M/s. Mahabir Electric Corporation and Mahabir Sales International which are looked after by his sons Shri Ravindra and Shri Arun Jain. The latter is importer and exporter of electrical and sanitary goods.
Associated with several trade organisations, Shri Jain is member of Trada Advisory Board, Delhi Admn. and past Vice-President and member of the Executive Committee of Delhi Hardware and Iron Association.
Social services of Shri Jain are manifold. He was General Secretary of Vir Sewak Sangh in 1940. Past President of Jain Mittra Mandal for 17 years he is now its Patron.
He is President or Jain Shiksha Board Kucha Seth which is running two Higher Secondary Schools, a primary and a nursery school. General Secretary of Asamarath Bhai Bahen Fund for last 14 years, Secretary of Delhi Pradesh Jain Samaj, Dig. Jain Muni Sangh Committee and Granthraj Bhuvalaya Prakashan Samiti, and Treasurer of Delhi Pradesh Dig.
Bhagwan Mahavir 2500th Nirwan Celebrations Committee. He is General Secretary and Trustee of Shri Mahabir Pershad Jain Charitable Trust and Trustee of several other trusts. He is member of Managing Committee of Dig. Jain Secondary School, Jain Balashram, Daryaganj. All India Tirtha Sangh Committee and Ayodhya Tirtha Sangh Committee.
He was Chief Mela Incharge of Panchkalyanak of Sahashrakut. He is member of Jain Sports Club since 1945 and Life Member of Ahimsa International. In Nov., 1972 he has been elected for 4 years Vice- President of Executive Committee of Shri Prachin Aggarwal Dig. Jain Panchayat. He is member of Indian Red Cross Society and Indian Council of World Citizens.
He has been Secretary of Shri Ramlila Committee and Mir Mohalla of Chandni Chowk areas. He was honoured by Dig. Jain College, Baraut on January 20,1967 and by Jain Mittra Mandal 108 PROGRESSIVE JAINS OF INDIA on March 31, 1969 for his social services. Married to Smt. Kiran Wati Jain he has three sons and three daughters.
