Shri Ajit Pershad Jain

Shri A. P. Jain is a leading jeweller having wide social contacts. He was bom at Delhi on October 11, 1930. He is adopted son of Shri Babu Mai Jain. Shri Bujjan Mai, his grand-father on adoptive side, had his jewellery firm Manohar Lai Bujan Mai in Chandni Chowk which was established in 1860. He was a well-known social figure among the Jains of Delhi.

He started Jain Kanya Pathshala, which has developed into Jain Girls Higher Secondary School, in Dharampura and was its Chairman. His son Shri Babu Mai started looking after the above firm since the age of 14. He had business dealings with princely states.

He was closely associated with the management of Shri Jain Naya Mandir Dharampura, was Treasurer of the above Kanya Pathshala and managed it affairs. He adopted Shri A.P. Jain, his grand-son on maternal side, while the latter was five years old. Shri Ajit Pershad shifted the above firm from Chandni Chowk to Janpath Hotel, New Delhi in 1956 where he has a modern jewellery show-room.

Shri Jain is associated with New Delhi Traders Association and was member of Executive Committee of Delhi Jewellers Association for three years. Former Finance Secretary of Jain Balashram, Daryaganj he is now one of its Vice-Presidents. He has three sons and three daughters.
