Late Rai Bahadur Jagmander Das Jain was born in the famous Sahu Jain family at Najibabad in U.P. He had a unique individuality, was for six consecutive years glorious Chairman of District Board Bijnor, Hony. Magistrate and Government Treasurer and received much regard also from Government officers.
He was associated with several prominent Jain institutions and worked for increasing their funds also donating himself. He was Secretary of Dig. Jain Maha Sabha and Treasurer of Dig. Jain Parishad and Hastinapur Tirthakshetra Committee.
Extremely social, he presided over hundreds of conferences and congregations. He had much respect for the scholars, leaders and social workers. He used to resolve the difficult social and religious disputes with much intelligence. He helped in securing Government jobs for hundreds of persons and scholarships to many students. He was well-known for his helping and amiable nature, quick wit and hospitality.
A premature end came to this illustrious and popular leader of the Jain community at Mussorie in 1935.
His son Shri Ramesh Chand Jain is holding the senior position of Manager of Times of India Group of Publications at Delhi. He is actively associated with A.I. Dig. Jain Parishad as its Secretary of Publishing House. Soft spoken Shri Jain has amiable nature like his late father.
