Shri Panna Lai Agarwal is an institution in himself. With his efforts and labour he has collected and produced vast and valuable material on Jain literature and culture. With his active cooperation Vir Seva Mandir Delhi, Maneck Chand Dig. Jain Granthamala, Bombay, Bharatiya Jnanpith, Chawre Dig. Jain Granth-mala Karanja, Jivraj Granthmala Sholapur, Madras University, Allahabad University (Hindi Parishad) and Dig. Jain Library, Surat and many Indian and foreign scholars have brought out many useful publications. He arranged an exhibition of rare Jain scripts and paintings at the literary exhibition of the Cultural Conference held in Red Fort at Delhi. He has a large collection of letters written to him by noted Indian and foreign scholars and social reformers. Shri Agarwal has been an enthusiastic and responsible worker in several literary, educational and social institutions. He was born at Nasirabad in 1903 and was brought up at Delhi.
He has written History of Jain Rath Yatra in Delhi in 1877, Jain Institutions of Delhi, and Published Jain Literature etc. A large number of his articles and notes have appeared in leading Jain magazines. He was felicitated and awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2500/- at a special function organised in April 1975 by the Jain Mittra Mandal in recognition of his selfless literary services.
