Banpur is located about 32 km from Lalitpur. This place has idols dating back to 10th century. An 18 feet high idol of Shantinath Bhagwaan along with 7 feet high idols of Bhagwan Kunthunath and Arahnath on both sides is installed here. The temple is believed to be 1000 years old.

According to ethics, Banpur was the capital of Banasur the king of demons. Banpur’s king Mardan Sing was with Rani Lakshmi Bai. The great warier in the freedom struggle of yr. 1857 against the British Empire.

A Sahastrakoot Chaityalaya (A little temple of single stone with 1008 idols carved on it) prepared before 10th century A.D. is also here.
