Kamathan is about 11 km from Bidar in the state of Karnataka. Currently only one Jain family is residing in Kamathan and around one hundred in Bidar and surrounding areas. There is a cave temple of 9th century where an idol of Tirthankar Parsvanath had been placed made of black stone and is about 4.5 feet high. It was installed by the kings of the Rutt dynasty about 1100 years ago. The idol is extremely beautiful and looks like in deep meditation.
In the year 1989 Acharya Shrutsagar Maharaj brought this idol from the cave and installed it in a temple here. The temple has one Manstambh which is 31 feet high.
