Nohta is situated at the meeting point of the rivers Byarma and Goraiya in the state of MP. Judging from the number of sites of old temples, which are scattered in and around the village, Nohta must have been at one time a place of prominence and centre of art and culture. The temples and idols here belonged to the 9th century era. But the temples are now totally ruined and if no immediate rescue is done, very soon we might lose the site of ruins that stands today.
The only temple now standing is near the road, about one km from the village. It is in a very ruinous condition, the outer shell of the walls of the shrine having for the most part fallen together with the sikhara and roof of the sabha mandapa. The temple consists of a shrine, hall, and porch, which have all been fully decorated.” The town is also home to a number of Jain temples, which are now ruined. Though now the temple is under the protection of Archaeological Survey of India.
Idols of Bhagwan Rishabhdev and Chandraprabhu are still here which is said to be full of miracles.
In a newly constructed temple under the inspiration of Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj, 72 idols of past, present and future tirthankars is being installed here.
