Pt. Nathulal Shastri

Pt. Nathulal .Shastri was born in village Surli (Jaipur) on January 25, 1913. He has passed Jain Sidhanta Shastri, Sahitya Shastri, Nyayatirtha and Sahityaratna examinations. Having worked as teacher of Sanskrit and Nyaya since 1931 he is Principal of Hukam Chand Dig. Jain Mahavidyalaya, Indore since 1958.

A reformist by nature, he has made earnest efforts to simplify the marriage rites and Panch Kalyanak celebrations. He has been Pratisthacharya on many occasions and has created several Pratisthacharyas. He has written Hindi Jain Sahitya, Mahilaon Ke Prati, Bundelkhand Yatra, Kalikund Paraswanath,Sanskrit Prakrit Puja (Hindi), Jain Vivah Sanskar, Vir Nirwan-utsava, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat States Jain Tirtha Yatra, Southern States Jain Tirtha Yatra, and Vishwa Dharma.

He has been Vice-President of A.I. Dig. Jain Vidwat Parishad and is Editor of ‘Sanmati Vani’ for the last 4 years. He has been honoured with the titles of Sanhita-Suri, Pratistha Diwakar, Jain Sidhanta Mahodadhi and Sidhantacharya. Vir Nirwan Bharati has felicitated him and awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2500/-in 1974.
