Pt. S. Adiraj Shastri was born to his parents Shri Anant Rajaiyya and Smt. Dharnambha in village Shilsi in Karkal Taluk in Distt. South Kanara (Karnataka) on Nov. 17, 1917. He studied English and Sanskrit from 1931 to 1937 and did his Nyayatirtha from Indore. After having worked as teacher of religion for two years in Sanskrit Pathshala at Bahubali Tirthakshetra (Maharashtra) he was appointed Sanskrit teacher in Mysore State Government High School. In 1943 he got assignment as teacher of religion in Hummach. He is editing ‘Shri Gurudev’ a monthly Kannad magazine since 1956. His articles are published in various Kannad magazines. He has been honoured with the title of Sidhantacharya and awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2500/- by Vir Nirwan Bharati in 1974.
