Senior and respectable person of Multan Jain Samaj elderly Shri Ashan and Jain is a wealthy business man of Indian hosiery. He was born at Multan (Pakistan) on January 27, 1898. He joined the family business of general merchandise at Multan at a young age of 13 with his father Shri Rhola Ram Jain.
Since his father took Vanprastha at the age of 45 years Shri Jain continued the business with his two brothers. The eldest Shri Rikhab- das died at the age of 33 years and the business with the other Shri Rangoolai Jain was separated in goodwill in 1947.
On country’s partition in the same year Shri Jain settled at Delhi and set up M/s. Bhola Ram Rikhab Das Jain in Sadar Bazar which is a leading general merchandise and hosiery firm. The business has been considerably developed with the combined efforts of his only son Shri Vir Kumar Jain.
The compulsory religious education introduced by the Jain society at Multan gave a religious bend of mind to Shri Jain from the very childhood. He convened the renovation of Jain temple at Multan in 1930. He was Sanghpati of All India Shri Bahubali Dig. Jain Yatra Sangh Lalitpur-Delhi which visited Bundelkhand and Girnarji and the pilgrim places in the South.
He took keen interest in safe bringing of Jain idols and hand-written Shastras from Multan to Jaipur, even by air, after partition of the country and in construction of Jain temple in Adarsh Nagar there. The construction of the temple which continued for 8 years was supervised by Shri Jain by making frequent visits to Jaipur.
The Pratistha of the temple was performed on May 27, 1962. Elected on April 7, 1956 as President of the Construction Committee he continues to be the President of the Managing Committee of the temple. He is President of Multan Dig. Jain Samaj since 1937 from Multan.
His son Shri Vir Kumar Jain, born on February 8, 1937, graduated from Hindu College, Delhi in 1959. He joined his father’s business in 1966 and is the principal man in the above said firm. Sweet tempered, handsome and cultured Shri Vir Kumar has progressive views.
He is the first President of Multan Jain Parishad, established in November 1972 to develope faith in religion in the younger generation. Tourism and sports are the hobbies of young Vir Kumar.
