Ancestors of Shri Bal Chand Jain were the first among Swetamber Terapanth Samaj to have settled at Delhi. His grand-father Shri Birdhi Chand and father Shri Naunag Ram had respectable position in their Samaj. Shri Naunag Ram alongwith his brother Shri Gir- dhari Lai and nephew Shri Prem Chand established Birdi Chand Jain Memorial Bhavan in Naya Bazar and created a trust for that. It has a library and reading room and was for several years main centre of Terapanth Samaj activities in Delhi.
Shri Birdhi Chand, Shri Naunag Ram and Shri Girdhari Lai established the firm M/s. Birdhi Chand Girdhari Lai in 1924. It was changed into Birdhi Chand Naunag Ram in 1944.
Shri Bal Chand was born at Sarurpur Kalan in Distt. Meeeut (U.P.) in 1932. He came to Delhi in 1939. He entered in business in 1949. Since the death of his father in 1959 he is running the wholesale business of paper and bahis independently. He has established Ramesh Industries, a draw bench factory, at G.T. Road, Bahadurgarh in 1972.
He is socially active since 1959. He was Treasurer of Jain Swetamber Terapanthi Sabha Delhi, its President during 1967-69 and Convenor of its first students camp. He is member of Executive Committee of Jain Vishwa Bharati, Ladnun and Delhi Pradesh Anuvrat Samiti and publisher of Anuvrat fortnightly. His wife Smt. Savitri Devi is Treasurer of Anuvrat Mahila Parishad, Delhi.
