Shri Balwant Singh Jain son of Shri Bharat Singh Jain has to his credit many achievements in the field of educational and social service. He was born at Sonepat (Haryana) on August 15, 1912. Married to Smt. Angoori Devi in 1929 he has three sons and two daughters.
He came from Sonepat to Delhi in 1929 and passed M.A. in Persian from St. Stephens College in 1935 and B.T. from Aligarh University in 1936. He obtained third position in University in B.A. and M.A. examinations. He always stood first in the religious examinations of Jain Parishad. Late Barrister Champat Rai Jain had great affection for him.
He was promoted as Vice-Principal in Hira Lai Jain Hr. Sec. School where he served during 1937-63. He is Director of Tagore Montessori, Baratooti, Sadar Bazar, established in 1954.
Shri Jain is socially active since 1929. He visited hospitals, distributed medicines in villages and organised night schools for free education to lower class people. He was imprisoned in 1933 for participating in noncooperation movement. He was founder of Jain Dramatic Club Pahari Dhiraj, which brought to stage old social workers of Deihi, and was appointed Delhi District Scout Commissioner in 1940. Past President of Science Development Association and Pahari Dhiraj Cooperative House Building Society Shri Jain is Jt. Secy, of Examination Board of Dig. Jain Parishad and Treasurer of Hindustani Adabi Society and Anjuman Uruze-Adab. He edited Urdu Section of Jain Pracharak for several years. He established Tagore Academy which runs Tagore Montessori School, Tagore Tele Club and Tagore Library for children.
Shri Jain is doing significant service to society through Jain Marriage Bureau of which he is founder Secretary since 1936. Many marriages including of widows have been arranged through this Bureau. Since November 1972 he is running a monthly magazine “Sukh Sangam” to give matrimonial information on regular basis.
