Historical Details |

History of this teerth originated along with the birth of Bhagwan Dharmanath. The most important period of the life of Bhagwan was spent on this holy place. It has the importance of being the place of four Kalyanak i.e. Chyavan, Janm, Deeksha ( convocation ) & Kevalgyan of bhagwan Dharmanath. On Vaisakh Shukla Saptami night, at punya nakshatra the soul of Dridhrath entered in the kukshi of queen Suvrata, the wife of king Bhanu. At the very same moment, queen Suvrat has seen the nightmare indicating birth of teerthankar. Indra & other devtas celebrated this function as Chyavan kalyanak. After completion of birth period, queen Suvrata, gave birth to a son having sign of Vajra in pukhya nakshatra on the third day of Shukla paksh of Margshirsh. ( As per Digambar’s the birth took place on Thirteenth day of Shukla paksh of Margshirsh ). During the maternity period thought of following dharma generated in queen Suvrata and hence the newly born Bhagwan became famous as Dharmanath. Indra & other devtas celebrated this function as janm kalyanak along with the subjects. After ruling for five thousand years he took deeksha ( convocation) in Prakanchan udyan along with one thousand-follower king’s in punya nakshatra on thirteenth day of Margshirsh shukla paksh. After visiting many holy places he came to the same udyan after two years and started his meditation under Dadhiparn tree. He attained Kevalgyan under this tree in puny nakshtra of Poornima of Poush. |
