Shri Jainendra Kishore Jain

SHRI JAINENDRA KISHORE JAIN


Born at Arrah in 1871 to his parents B. Nand Kishore and Smt. Kismis Devi, Shri Jainendra Kishore (Agarwal) made his first poetic composition in Hindi in praise of Shri Sammed Shikharji at the age of 9 years. He was a very good Hindi novelist, dramatist and poet.

He also studied English and Urdu and learnt Urdu poetry under the guidance of Maulvi Fazal. He was a very popular poet at the Urdu Mushairas. A versatile genius he edited ‘Jain Gazette’, and ‘Nagri Pracharni Patrika’ and gave his active assistance in the publication of history of Urdu language in the journal ‘Hindi Sidh- anta Prakash.

He was enthusiastic Secretary of Syadwad Mahavidyalaya Banaras and provincial Secretary of Jain Young Association. He had established Jain Natak Mandali which at several times successfully staged Kali Kautuk, Manorma, Anjana, Sripal, Pradumna, Soma Sati, Draupadi, Kripan Das and other plays written by him. Manorma, Kamalini, Sukumal, Gulenar, Durian and Manowati are his important novels.
