Late Shri Raghbir Singh Jain Sarraf. a well-known social worker of Delhi was adopted son of Shri Shibba Mai Jain. He was born at Ballabhgarh in Haryana.
Shri Ganga Dass, father of Shri Shibba Mai, died in 1857 in the War of Independence. His both the sons Shri Gadder Mai and Shri Shibba Mai were brought to Delhi in their childhood by their aunt where they established a good caps business.
Shri Raghbir Singh first manged M/s. Gadder Mai Shibba Mai. Around 1938 he established a new firm M/s. Shibba Mai Raghbir Singh in Dariba Kalan. His second wife Smt. Devi Jain was daughter of well- known scholar late Pt. Sagar Chand Jain. Her grand-father Pt. Tulsi Ram prepared Tikas of several Puranas.
Shri Jain was actively associated with Jain Mittra Mandal of which he was the Treasurer since 1927 till his death. He was Secretary of Vir’ and Digamber Jain Parishad Publishing House from 1942 to 1953. He was one of the main organisers of annual Mahavir Jayanti Celebrations, which were first started by Jain Mittra Mandal in 1925 and was founder-member of Jain Vir Sabha. He rendered appreciable services for Jain Shiksha Board and Jain Prem Sabha and was Secretary of Jain Rath Yatra Committee. He worked with close cooperation with Barrister Champat Rai Jain Brahamchari Shital Prasad and other eminent social workers of the time and had great respect for Ganesh Prasadji Varni.
He breathed his last prematurely on 2nd April, 1953 at the age of 45 years. His three sons Shri Vijendra Kumar, Shri Narendra Kumar and Shri Surendra Kumar Jain are engaged in their own and independent business.
