The ancestors of late Shri Roop Chand Luhadia came from Khandela to Kama (Rajasthan) near Kosikalan. Four of their generations lived in that village. His father Shri Hoti Lai Luhadia alongwith his three brothers settled at Delhi for Gota Kinari business about a century ago. Later on he started Paper & Stationery business. He was a religious minded person, keenly interested in social reforms and was well known in his circle for his deeds. He died in 1909 leaving the family in a crude financial condition when Shri Roop Chand was only nine years old. As the family had no sound financial footing, Shri Roop Chand joined service, alongwith his elder brother Shri Hukam Chand, with his maternal uncle Shri Siddho Mai Jain, the leading paper merchant of Delhi. His younger brother Shri IMem Chand joined service with his elder meternal uncle Shri Surajmal Jain.
After a sincere and respectable service of about 35 years he established his independent paper firm M/s. Roop Chand & Sons in Chawri Bazar, Delhi on 26th January, 1953. He also set up M/s. Printers & Convertors Corporation for printing and paper conversion business. He controlled the flourishing business till his death on 30th July 1966.
Shri Jain was a polite and devoted social worker and remained Jt. Secretary of Shri Khandelwal Digamber Jain Mandir Panchayat Baidwara, Delhi for more than 15 years.
The business is now looked after by his five sons S/Shri Prem Chand, Manak Chand, Gulab Chand, Hem Chand and Inder Chand jointly. They are distributors of the Titaghur Paper Mills Co. Ltd., Calcutta. In addition to paper and printing business they are also distributor of leading printing inks company i.e. M/s. Coates of India Ltd.,Calcutta and M/s. Ganges Printing Inks Factory, Calcutta.
As head of family, religious minded Shri Prem Chand has developed the business considerably and is well known in paper and printing trade of Delhi. Social service and active participation in literary activities inclulding cultural are the hobbies of soft spoken Shri Manak Chand from the very childwood. He is President of Shri Rishabh Brahamcharyashram, Chaurasi (Mathura) and of its affiliated Jain Inter College there and member of Executive Committee of Rajdhani Arts and Cultural Society, Delhi and member of Diners Club of
India. The other three brothers Shri Gulab Chand, Shri Hem Chand and Shri Inder Chand are also very polite and friendly and quite well-up in the joint business. The family has a respectable position in Khandelwal Jain Samaj of Delhi as well as outside.
