Born to his parents Sh. Gunpal and Smt. Kulandaiyammal in village Tiruppanmur, 50 miles away from Madras, on July 5, 1900 Shri T.S. Shripal received education at Kan- chivaram. Appointed as teacher in a Pancha-
yat school he studied Jain religion by himself. He was appointed main preacher in newly established ‘Dakshin Bharat Jivrakshak Prachar Sabha’of Madras in 1927 and did selfless preaching work in a large number of Tamil Nadu villages to stop animal sacrificing.
He has established a society for research in Jain literature and has written over 20 books in Tamil language. Past President of ‘Tamil Writers Association’ he has done yeoman service in the field of research in old Tadpatra scriptures and their publication. As a result of his efforts, Madras University has published Aghandanadar Ulla and Nagkuyar in Tamil language. He is presently Editor of Nallaram monthly magazine. He has been honoured with the title of ‘Samaj Ratna’ and awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2500/- by Vir Nirwan Bharati in 1974.
