Lala Munshi Lai Jain Kagzi son of late L. Miri Mai Jain was born in an ordinary family at Delhi. He joined service in a well known paper firm at an early age. From the small and humble beginning he rose to a big position not only in paper trade but also in Jain Samaj.
After a few years experience in service he embarked upon his own business in partnership in M/s. Ram Nath Munshi Lai. After dissolution of partnership in perfect goodwill, he established his independent firm
‘Munshi Lai and Sons’ in a shop having commanding position in Chawri Bazar.
He obtained agency of Orient Paper Mills Ltd, which continues till today. He ,was a foremost paper importer. He entered in Industry by setting up his own Delhi Board Mills and Kwality Water Proof Co. at Faridabad.
Devoted to religious and social service, Lalaji received the deserved respect from the community. He was elected Panch of Jain Samaj. For about 12 years he was Hon. General Manager of Shri Digamber Jain Pan- chayati Mandir and effected much improvements in it including installation of a grand statue of Shri Bahubali Ji.
For the cause of public welfare, he founded a charitable trust which provided medical relief to the poor and help to widows and needy. For his gentle nature he was popularly known as ‘Bhai Ji’ among his kith and kins. He left behind him a big estate consisting of factories, buildings and a flourishing business house built by his hard labour and goodwill.
After him, his five sons succeeded his estate. Later, on family partition, the eldest son Shri Abhinandan Kumar Jain and Shri S.P. Jain took the Faridabad factory and established their own business while the youngers Shri Mahabir Prasad Jain and Shri Jugmandir Prasad Jain are running the old family firm M/s. Munshi Lai and Sons. In addition to their being distributors of Orient Paper Mills Ltd.
They have added the new business of (1) Distributorship of Sirpur Paper Mills Ltd. (2) Prabha Trading Co.— distributors of J. K. Cotton Spinning and Weaving Mills Ltd. (3) Munshi Paper Agencies. The youngest brother Shri P.C. Jain is running an independent business at present. Progressive in views, Shri Mahabir Prasad Jain, born at Delhi on 28th April, 1941, is following the footprints of his late father in serving the society. He is Hon.
General Manager of Dig. Jain Panchayati Mandir, Committee member of Shri Paraswa- nath Jain Tample, Green Park and Safdarjang Enclave Welfare Association, life member of Federation of Paper Trade Association and Ahimsa International and is associated with several other organisations.
