‘Namāh śri Vardhamāna-e nirdhutakalilātmane”
”Sālokānāma trilokānāma yadā-vidyā darpanāyate!”
I bow to Śri Vardhamāna Mahāvīra who has washed off the impurities of karmic filth from His Soul, and
In Whose Perception scintillate the three Worlds and the infinity of Space, as in a mirror !
Vardhaman Mahāvīr was the twenty-fourth and last tirthankara of ”avasarpini”. In Jainism, a tirthankara (maker of the river crossing) is an omniscient teacher who preaches the dharma (righteous path) and builds a ford across the ocean of rebirth and transmigration. Twenty-four tirthankara grace each half of the cosmic time cycle.
