Smt. Chandabai was born in a rich Vaishnava Agarwal family of Vrindavan in 1889. Her father B. Narian Das, B.A. was a member of the U.P. Legislative Assembly for several years. At the age of 11 she was married to B. Dharam Kumar, elder brother of B. Dev Kumar Jain of Arrah.
It was a rich and leading Jain family there. Unfortunately, Chandabaiji became widow at the age of 12. She devoted herself to study of literature, Nyaya,Vyakaran and other religious books In a short time she passed Pandita examination of Kashi.
She established Shri Jainbala-Vishram in 1921 in her garden in village Dhanupura, two miles away from Arrah. It is a model Jain institution in the country imparting education to girls. She is a good orator and writer and has been editing Jain Mahiladarsh since 1921. She has written several useful books for the ladies. She lives like a Jain Aryka.
