Born at Bilram in Distt. Etah (U.P.) on 17th October, 1918 Pt. Sumer Chand, M.A. in Sanskrit and Hindi, Sahitya-ratna, Nyaya- tirtha and Shastri got his religious education at Rishabha Brahamcharyashram, Mathura and Syadwad Mahavidyalaya, Varanasi.
He worked in All India Digamber Jain Sangh, Mathura, Jain College Khatauli (U.P) and is Hindi and Sanskrit Teacher in Jain Sanskrit Commercial Higher Secondary School, Kucha Seth Delhi for the last 31 years.
Much influenced by late Brahamchari Ganesh Prasad Varni, Baba Bhagirath Varni and Brahamchari Deep Chand Varni he is actively devoted to religious and social service since his young age.
A founder-member of World Jain Mission, Jain Mahilashram Daryaganj and Jan Kalyan Samiti, he was Convenor of Chandabai Souvenir, Tansukhrai Commemoration Volume and Barrister Champat Rai Seminar. He is a Convenor of World Jain Mission ; Jt. Secretary of Shastri Parishad and Vidwat Pari- shad ; Publicity Secretary of Jain Mittra Mandal and Muni Sangh Prabandhak Committee, and member of Delhi Pradesh Bhagwan Mahavir Nirwan Celebrations Committee.
A willing and cooperative worker he takes active interest in propagation of Jain religion and culture. Besides his works Samrat Kharwel, Jain Dharma Parichaya and Nibandh- mala he has contributed numerous articles in Jain periodicals.
