A bold journalist, orator and social worker Shri Bhanwar Lai Jain son of Sh. Gaindilal Bhaonsa was born at Jaipur in 1918. One of the main deciples of late Pt. Chainsukh Das he is for over 35 years devoted to religious and social service and is office bearer and Committee member of several literary and social bodies of Jaipur. He was Municipal Councillor during 1952-55.
He studied at Jaipur Sanskrit College and did his Nyayatirtha. He has also studied English, Urdu and Persian and is a lover of music. Past editor of Khandelwal Jain Hitechu and ‘Jain Bandhu’ he is Chief Editor of ‘Vir Vani’ through which he has published historical material on Jain Diwans of erstwhile Jaipur State.
For 26 years he was Secretary of Dig. Jain Sanskrit College, Jaipur and for over 25 years he is Secretary of Padampura Tirtha- kshetra and has done commendable work for their development. He is Secretary of Chote Diwanji Ka Dig. Jain Temple and its dharamshala.
Proprietor of Vir Press and Vir Pustak Bhandar, he has published several religious scriptures and books. He has edited and translated several books among which Banarsi Vilas and Bhavna Vivek (an original Sanskrit work of Pt. Chainsukh Das) are more important. 10 volumes of Sanyam Prakash written by Acharya Sur Sagarji were published with his dedicated efforts.
For his religious and literary services Vir Nirwan Bharati honoured him with the title of ‘Samaj Ratna’ and awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2500/on July 21, 1974 at Delhi. The Jains of Jaipur also felicitated him at a public function held on July 31, 1974.
