Shri Ratan Chand Mukhtar

Shri Dhawal Kirat Jain, father of Shri Ratan Chand was a religious minded person who left his deep religious influence on his sons. He expired in September 1960. Shri Ratan Chand was born at Saharanpur (U.P.) in 1902, did his matriculation from there in 1920 and passed Mukhtarship in 1923 from Allahabad. For 23 years, upto May 1947, he was in the legal profession at Saharanpur.

Impelled spiritually he left the profession and devoted his life wholly to the study of Jain scriptures and propagation of Jain religion. He takes regular Shastra Sabhas and answers the questions received from ail over the country which are published in Jain Gazette regulary. He prepared a Tika of Alap Padhati in 1970. He has published a number of tracts on various subjects.

Shri Jain made a thorough study of Dhawal, Jai-Dhawal and Maha- Dhawal and prepared the list of errors which occured in their translation and publication. These were corrected in the next editions of these Shastras. He has been Adhisthata of Udasin Ashram Isri. Deeply religious and contented person, Mukhtar Saheb has an ideally simple life.
